Weekly Stripe summary — monitor your business in 2 minutes

If you manage a subscription business on Stripe, you need to know how things are going without logging into the dashboard every day. A weekly email summary gives you the key numbers in a 2-minute read, once a week, on the day and time you choose.

What a good weekly summary should include

You don’t need 50 metrics. You need the 7 that actually matter:

Weekly revenue. How much you’ve collected in the last 7 days. The most important number.

Successful charges. How many transactions processed correctly. Tells you if volume is going up or down.

New subscriptions. How many new customers subscribed this week. Your growth engine.

Active subscribers. Total customers with active subscriptions. Your base.

Failed payments. How many charges didn’t work this week. If it’s going up, there’s a problem.

Cancellations. How many customers left. If it’s going up, there’s another problem.

Recovered payments. How many failed payments were recovered (and how much money). The metric that tells you if your recovery system is working.

With these 7 data points you can tell in 30 seconds if your business is doing well, okay, or badly. No complicated charts or sophisticated dashboards.

Why an email and not the dashboard

The dashboard is for when you need to dig deeper — see the detail of each payment, each customer, each problem. The weekly summary is for the big picture.

Most businesses don’t need to check the dashboard every day. They need to know once a week if everything’s fine. If the summary shows something’s wrong (failed payments rising, cancellations spiking), then you go into the dashboard to investigate.

It’s the difference between passive and active monitoring. The summary monitors for you. You only act when needed.

Configure the day, time, and data

Not all businesses have the same routine. Some prefer the summary Monday morning to start the week with context. Others prefer Friday to close the week.

A good system lets you choose:

  • Day of the week you receive the summary.
  • Time of delivery (in your timezone, not the server’s).
  • Which data to include — if you don’t care about «successful charges» because they’re always the same, turn it off and the email is shorter.
  • Destination email — receive it on your personal email, a shared team email, or both.

The email you receive

The ideal format is visual and scannable. A clean table with each metric in a row: emoji + name + value. No paragraphs, no explanations. The numbers speak for themselves.

Something like:

If something’s wrong, you see it in 3 seconds. If everything’s fine, you close the email and move on with your day.

The value of consistency

The weekly summary isn’t a report. It’s a routine. Receiving it every week for months gives you something the dashboard can’t: trend. You see if revenue is going up or down week over week. If churn is stabilizing or worsening. If payment recovery is improving.

That time perspective is what lets you make informed decisions, not reactive ones.

How to start

Enabling a weekly summary should take less than a minute: pick the day, time, timezone, select which data you want, done. The system does everything each week without you having to remember.
