How to give free trial access to a paid Telegram group

Offering a few days of free access to your paid Telegram group is an effective way to convert curious people into subscribers. The user tries the real content, not a demo, and decides with information.

How a Telegram trial works

The user signs up with their email and gets temporary access to the group or broadcast list. During that time they receive the same content as paying subscribers. When the period ends, if they haven’t paid, access is automatically revoked.

How many trial days

For daily content (signals, news, analysis): 3-5 days is enough for the user to see the value.

For weekly content (newsletters, education): 7-14 days to cover at least one complete cycle.

Require card or not

If you ask for a card at trial start (via Stripe), conversion to paid is much higher (50%+). If you don’t ask for a card, you get more signups but fewer conversions (10%-15%).

For Telegram groups, asking for a card via Stripe works well: the user subscribes with a Stripe trial, gets group access, and when the trial ends they’re charged automatically.

The infinite trial mistake

Some creators give free access «forever» hoping the user will pay when they want. Doesn’t work. Without a deadline there’s no urgency and the user gets used to not paying. Always have an end date.

The experience that converts

During the trial, publish your best content. Don’t save the good stuff for paying members — the trial is your showcase. If the user sees mediocre content during the trial, they won’t pay to see more.

Telegram Control supports Stripe trials: the user subscribes with a trial period, gets group access, and when the trial ends they’re charged automatically or access is revoked.
